Tucked away in the recesses of Wang Yuyang’s Studio, a flourishing ivy commands attention as it ascends the studio walls, its tendrils threading through the tiniest of gaps to infiltrate the indoor realm. From this thriving expanse, the artist has carefully selected and transferred a portion of the ivy into a pot, where it persists in its robust growth, locked in a visual and silent colloquy with a plant image crafted by artificial intelligence, within the intimate confines of the studio. “The ivy, as meticulously chronicled in my records, proliferates with an air of creative participation on the canvas within my workspace”, reflects Wang Yuyang. “On one occasion, I witnessed the ivy scaling the frame of my painting, which inspired me to hang a formal white canvas upon the wall to observe its sinuous ascent into a unique configuration. Though one may trim sections of the ivy, it endures, persisting in its growth with unbridled vitality.” The artist posits that once this botanical artwork is transposed to the exhibition hall, it will persist on its natural course, either flourishing or fading away, in a state of pure authenticity. Its tenure within the exhibition hall is not confined to a static locale but is surrendered to the impromptu arrangements that arise from the very essence of its living narrative.
