On the floor of the exhibition space, a worn metal sphere approximately one meter in diameter spins and wobbles intermittently. Its movement is controlled by an artificial intelligence system trained on the rotational patterns of the human eye, causing the sphere to turn in the same way the eye moves when observing the world. As visitors enter, the sphere “gazes” back, spinning in response to their presence and movement. The work reminds us that while we look at artworks, they too, in their own way, are looking back at us.
